Tenmonkan is not the name of a specific building, but instead the name of a shopping district in Kagoshima City.
The name refers to an expansive shopping area with the Tenmonkan tram stop at its center.
The Tenmonkan arcade abounds with shoppers at all sorts of restaurants, some of which specialize in Kagoshima cuisine, as well as cafes and boutiques.
At night, the hustle and bustle moves to areas of Tenmonkan like Bunka-Dori and Yamanokuchi-Dori, which are packed with bars and pubs.
Also located within walking distance of Tenmonkan are well-maintained grassy parks, museums, shrines, temples, and churches - a perfect area for a relaxing stroll.
