It has been 46 years since Japan has seen a total solar eclipse, with the previous one occurring in 1963. The next total solar eclipse is said to occur only 26 years later, in 2053. However, it will be another 300 years before another total solar eclipse can be observed from this same region.
A museum with exhibits centered on the greatest total solar eclipse of this century, the Kagoshima Solar Eclipse Museum, will officially open on 3 July (Fri).
This museum will be the base from which information is sent out worldwide and will also serve as the assembly point for participants of the Tokara & Amami tours. Why don't you come to Kagoshima and experience for yourself the astronomical show of the century?
