Yakushima Coverage for German Newspaper Magazine

We had a great writer of Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin from Germany, her name is Ms. Kerstin Greiner.

It was the first trip to Japan for her and so, she was very excited to come to Yakushima Island. Yakushima Island registered first in Japan as a world natural heritage in 1993. She came to Yakushima for the coverage of autumn article.

We had 2 days in Yakushima from September 6th to 8th.

On the first day, Mr.Shiiba of Yakushima Tourist Association showed us around. We had look at the most famous places around Yakushima such as Yakushima Environmental Culture Village Center, Shitogo Gajumaru Banyan Garden, Nagata Inakahama Beach, Oko no Taki Waterfall and Hirauchi Kaichu Onsen Spa.

Letter from Ms. Kerstin

Thank you so much for arranging and hosting my trip to the beautiful island of Yakushima.
I will never forget the three days I spent with you in the magic forest and at the sandy beaches of yakushima. We visited the yakushima museum together, hiked to the old Yagusugi trees, had wonderful bentoboxes for lunchtime. I am so happy that you not only took me to all sorts of interesting places like princess mononoke forest but taught me all sorts of interesting things about Japanese culture and daily life. I only wish I could stay longer in your wonderful country. But I am happy I got every information for my article in Sueddeutsche Zeitung Magazine, which will be published in our autumn travelling issue. I hope a lot of readers will follow to see the beauty of your country.
Thanks to Mikiko and the Kagoshima Visitors Bureau, Japan and especially Yakushima is definitely one of my favorite places on earth, and I hope to return someday. Thanks again for all your wonderful support.
