Kagoshima, blessed with the geothermal heat of its volcano, is a hot spring kingdom both in name and in reality with the second largest number of hot spring sources and the third largest discharge of hot springs in the country. Natural hot spring water discharges from various places in the prefecture and the spring quality varies from simple thermal to alkaline spring, salt spring and alum spring. There is also a wide variety of hot springs and facilities such as Steam sand bath, outdoor bath, mud bath and spa.

Ryujin Outdoor Bath
Here, men and women soak in the tub with their yukata on. The sea is just beyond the mysterious outdoor bath surrounded by volcamic rocks.
