Sengan-en was constructed in 1658 as the villa for Mitsuhisa Shimadzu, 19th lord of the Shimadzu Family. This is one of the most famous gardens in Japan renowned for its borrowed scenery where elements such as Mt. Sakurajima and Kinko Bay are nicely incorporated into the garden.
