Hello! I’m Meiko, a nationally licensed tour guide based in Kagoshima. I was born and raised here, surrounded by beautiful nature and warm, welcoming people.
After working as an English teacher and later as a piano instructor in Tokyo, I moved to Kyoto, where I developed a deep appreciation for Japan's history and culture. Inspired by that experience, I became a nationally licensed tour guide in 2012 and spent 12 years based in Kyoto, guiding international visitors throughout the Kansai region and beyond. Now I'm delighted to be back in my hometown, introducing visitors to the beauty, history, and culture of Kagoshima.
I also lived in the United States while raising my newborn. The kindness and generosity I experienced there inspired me to welcome every guest with the same warmth and hospitality I was shown.
On my tours, I enjoy sharing not only famous sights but also the history, local stories, and everyday life that bring each place to life. I also love telling stories passed down through my family, offering a local perspective that you won't find in guidebooks. Kagoshima is a land of spectacular scenery, fascinating history, and wonderful food. I look forward to meeting you and exploring it together!
