Ishigura Museum (Shirakane Shuzo) (石蔵ミュージアム 白金酒造株式会社)

An interactive museum where you can learn about shochu from many different angles

Kirishima Area Local Specialties and Folk Crafts Aquarium, Zoo, and Theme Park Eateries

The building housing Ishigura Museum, the oldest stone shochu storehouse in Japan, is registered as a Tangible Cultural Property. The distillery continues to make shochu the traditional way, with wooden barrels and earthenware jars.
In contrast to this traditional production method, the distillery is also active in cutting-edge pursuits like a VR experience of the shochu production process.
Inside the museum, you can watch a movie in the theater and try your hand for free at glass art using fragments of shochu bottles.
At the shop attached to the museum, you can sample various brands of the distillery's shochu.
There are also plenty of souvenirs. If you don't drink, you can try shochu ice cream (available only in summer).
