Ougaku Tougei produces and sells pottery called Sakurajima ware, which can be made only in Sakurajima with the volcano's ash and local hot spring water.
The mineral ions in Sakurajima's soil not only soften and deepen the flavors of beverages, but also extend the lives of flowers placed in Sakurajima ware vases.
Ougaku Tougei's Sand Art Experience, which uses Sakurajima ash, is also a big hit.
Feel free to drop in for a bit while visiting Sakurajima to make volcanic ash art, which you can take with you.
