Large-scale shopping centers are opening all over Kagoshima City.
There are three shopping areas; South Kyushu's largest shopping district, the Tenmonkan, Kagoshima Chuo Station shopping area at the last stop on the Kyushu Shinkansen bullet train Line, and large shopping mall in the south of Kagoshima City.
You can enjoy shopping for different purposes such as fashion, sundries, home electronics and dining at a wide variety of boutiques, large department stores and shopping centers.
Yamakataya
The oldest department store in the area where you can buy everything from goods by the world's luxury brands, cosmetics and prepared food. It prides itself on providing a large selection that would meet the needs of any generation. The cafeteria with a casual atmosphere is also popular.
A place for eating and amusement situated in the waterfront with a view of Sakurajima and Kinko Bay. It is packed full of fun unique to Kagoshima including restaurants and cafe' s serving dishes made from local ingredients, local specialty goods and craft shops, and amusement facilities.
Kyushu's largest station building adjacent to JR Kagoshima Chuo Station. There is a giant 60-meter diameter Ferris Wheel "Amuran"on the rooftop where you can have a panoramic view of the city of Kagoshima as well as Sakurajima, Kinko Bay and the city lights at night.
A new shopping mall containing a cinema, games arcade and restaurants situated in the Yojiro district near Kinko Bay.
A large commercial establishment, which opened in November 2007, consisting of clothing, sports goods, cosmetics and pharmacy shops. There is a concentration of major home appliance outlets nearby.
AEON consists of 170 shops including fashion boutiques, sundry shops and restaurants. It is a supersize commercial establishment, which opened in October 2007, with a floor area of 43,000sqm, which also has an excellent food mall and food court.
Home appliance outlets, which originated in Akihabara, Tokyo and Nipponbashi, Osaka, are competing with one another all over Japan now. Various home appliances such as audio equipment, PCs and cell phones are sold inside the spacious shops.
