Yamano-ichigo Yasan Higashi Noen (Satsumasendai City)

This farm, nestled in a tranquil setting surrounded by mountains and rice fields, welcomes many tourists. The strawberries are grown by a veteran farmer dedicated solely to strawberries for over 45 years and cultivated with a commitment to organic fertilizers and reduced pesticide use. Many repeat customers travel from afar seeking these large, sweet strawberries.

There is no entrance fee or time limit for strawberry picking, so visitors can have a leisurely time. Payment is based on the weight of what you pick. The greenhouses are home to shiny, red strawberries, which can be enjoyed onsite after checkout or taken home.

The strawberries on offer include the Kagoshima-born variety Satsuma Otome, as well as Pika Strawberry, Starnight, and OiC Berry. Visitors can enjoy comparing their various tastes. Some greenhouses feature wide aisles, allowing entry with wheelchairs and strollers.

Please call ahead to confirm availability before visiting, as items may sell out early.

Katahira Kanko Noen (Hioki City)

Savor sweet and delicious strawberries! All-you-can-eat available on popular varieties!

There are two kinds of strawberry picking on offer: a 30-minute all-you-can-eat course where you can enjoy freshly picked strawberries on the spot, and a take-home course where you can eat what you pick at the eat-in seating area or take them home. It's possible to enjoy a range of strawberry varieties.

Visitors are asked to store their belongings in their car or in the on-site lockers before entering the greenhouses. Please carefully pick the ripe red berries, taking care not to damage the plants. For a leisurely experience, aim for weekdays when the facility is less crowded.

The rich soft serve topped with fresh strawberries and special strawberry sauce is a must-try — you won't find it anywhere else! The facility also sells handmade, additive-free strawberry jam, perfect as a souvenir.

AGRICIA (Hioki City)

Pick strawberries and tomatoes grown using cutting-edge farming techniques.

This facility is pioneering new agriculture by incorporating environmental control systems and LED lighting in the greenhouses, utilizing cutting-edge technology. Based on data such as sunlight, temperature, and humidity, staff automatically adjust and supply the optimal amount of fertilizer and CO2 to the strawberries. This approach creates the ideal growing environment, cultivating glossy, delicious strawberries.

Inside the bright greenhouses, rows of strawberry plants are arranged at heights easily accessible to wheelchair users and children. Enjoy strawberry picking with the pay-by-weight system where you can purchase exactly the amount you want.

Chest Kan (Hioki City)

A gathering of local specialties! Enjoy strawberry picking at the local products center.

This specialty store boasts an extensive selection of items. The shelves are packed with regional specialties, freshly harvested vegetables, seasonal fruits, prepared foods, and processed agricultural products.

This facility's strawberries, which appear from December to May, are hugely popular! When the season arrives, the shelves are lined with a wide variety of strawberries, including Saga Honoka, Beni Hoppe, and rare white strawberries.

The speciality of Hioki City, Pika Strawberries, are a particular favorite, characterized by their rich flavor, high sugar content, and deep red color that extends all the way to their green tops.

The aisles are wide, making it easy for wheelchair users and families with children.

The on-site cafeteria offers signature homemade soba noodles and menus featuring local ingredients.

Direct Sales Only: tubu-ichigo (Hiki City)

Freshly picked strawberries and a variety of exquisite tarts.

Tubu-ichigo's hallmark is its cute strawberry-shaped exterior. The small shop was started by a couple of strawberry farmers who wanted people to experience the deliciousness of their fresh strawberries.

This facility sells strawberries freshly picked from its greenhouses from December to around May, when the fruit is in season. 

Throughout the year, the shop features strawberry tarts, baked goods, and handmade strawberry-themed accessories.

The sweet and tangy strawberry smoothie, packed with fresh strawberries, is particularly popular!

Sunus Village (Minamisatsuma City)

This tourist farm near Fukiagehama Seaside Park offers strawberry picking. Choose the 45-minute all-you-can-eat plan or the pay-by-weight plan where you purchase the strawberries you pick.

Inside the bright and spacious greenhouses, staff cultivate eight varieties of strawberries. Depending on time of your visit, you can sample multiple types and find your favorite flavor.

The wide aisles allow wheelchair users and those with strollers to enjoy easy access. Strawberries sold by weight can be enjoyed in the eat-in area after payment. Condensed milk is also available for purchase.

The farm also holds seasonal activities, such as potato digging and blueberry picking, as well as events like Night Picnics. Please note there are no restrooms on the premises.

Maeda Strawberry Farm (Minamikyushu City)

Enjoy strawberry-related experiences like comparing the flavor of different varieties and making sweets!

Farmers here prioritize flavor over quantity. The strawberries are grown with meticulous soil cultivation, making them large and renowned for their rich, sweet taste.

The strawberries are sold based on their weight. You can choose from various kinds; the strawberries are divided into packs for tasting to allow visitors to compare the different flavors.

You can eat in the dining area after paying. Freshly picked strawberries are also sold directly at the store.

In addition to strawberry picking, there are experiences such as making strawberry daifuku (a kind of traditional confection) and strawberry jam using freshly picked strawberries (advance reservation required, separate fee).

This farm's proximity to Chiran's renowned attractions, including the Peace Museum and the Samurai Residence Complex, makes it an appealing spot to visit while sightseeing.

The daifuku sweets and jam are made using freshly picked strawberries, making them exceptionally delicious!
The park also features a fully equipped experience center, so it can accommodate large groups. Families and groups can enjoy strawberry picking and explore the center together.
