This shrine, which has deep ties to the myths in the Kojiki and the Nihon Shoki, is said to have been consecrated by the god Izanagi-no-mikoto.
The fresh water that wells up in Odono Pond on the shrine grounds is said to grant an easy delivery to pregnant women who drink it.
Next to the front shrine is a Jizo statue associated with easy delivery and child-rearing. The sacred water that flows vigorously from its breasts is known as "breast water".
