Located on a vast piece of land in Miyanojo, Hokusatsu Regional Park has a huge number and diverse range of activities that truly offer something for everyone.
Beautiful nature
Nature lovers will enjoy the concept of many mini parks inside one. There are wide grassy areas, flower gardens, orchards, bamboo groves and a sakura cherry blossom garden in the spring. Choose your favorite setting for a picnic, outdoor games or sports, or take a stroll on the flat paths through this lush environment. There are also two ponds, one of which is home to fireflies that bring light to the park in May. An observation deck offers stunning views of the park and its surrounds.
Crafts in traditional settings
Three historic buildings in the park provide the setting for cultural experiences. Make a local craft or fun toy with the help of the expert staff, take part in a traditional tea ceremony or simply soak up the atmosphere while exploring the old rooms. Nearby you can check out the rice fields to see how rice is grown and harvested (depending on the time of year)
Activities galore
In addition to outdoor leisure activities, grass sports can be enjoyed here on the purpose-built pitches. There is a playground for young children and a massive wooden assault course and climbing apparatus for the not so young! Climb its many levels for a workout as well as a change to see the scenery from above.
Hokusatsu Regional Park is great as a day trip or an overnight stay as there is plenty to do. Accommodations include eight bungalows (each sleeping six to eight people), 11 spots for campers and a camping site. Four-man tents and bedding can be rented and there are laundry facilities. And, after a day of fun activities, what better way to unwind than in the on-site indoor public bath, outdoor hot spring or foot bath.
